It's RETRO BOY!
Ain't he the CUTEST!?! I was overcome with image envy when I saw my adorable friend, Kelley, show off this irresistible stamp, recently. I love how she made him "hers" in her distinctive crisp and elegant minimalist style! Just a few weeks back, I stumbled upon the stamp, locally and I was SO excited to make the lil' guy and his faithful companion play nice WITH ME, TOO!
Further inspiration called to me, when I saw the groovy, retro color scheme for this week's JUGS challenge! Hey, speaking of inspiration, DANA, who is one of the JUGS girls and is my REAL LIFE BFF!, came up with THIS swatch, and is the Hostess, if you will, for this week's challenge!
Here's the card in it's entirety! I know I say, often, that "I had a blast making this card".... but HONESTLY! I did! There's something about being able to put your hands on the right materials for the "job!" Especially, right when you need them! I was SO excited to give this 7 Gypsies tape
the perfect job to do and story to tell! {That's why we hoard, right!?!?!} I'm so RELIEVED that I have (at least several! Ha Ha!) spools of this stuff!
The stamp, from Sassafras, has a drop shadow that didn't "work" for me for my purposes, so ASTONISHINGLY{!} I chose to paper piece him and slap down the simply fabulous cloud background to provide a fun "1st grade Reader" kind of environment... {Just try to pry that one from my inky fingers! DOH! ~ I'm in LOVE!}
Oh, gosh, he strikes such a vintage cord in my foggy, ol' memory! Dick and Jane, perhaps? Anyone recall those cuties and their dog, SPOT!?!
Anyway, lovies! It was an unexpected chaotic day! I hope you stayed warm and dry, wherever you are... I haven't had much chance for visiting, but hopefully tomorrow I can make the rounds of blogland and see what YOU'VE been up to! I'm so delighted you stopped by!

What an adorable card! There is so much fun detail - I love the vintage boy & dog stamps! Yes, I do recall learning how to read with those books. "See Spot run!" Oh dear, we must be getting old! Hi Babe, you totally rocked that challenge! Great retro look to your card and a fabby use of the colours. That little guy and his dog are tickling my memory too, but I can't quite bring the image to mind either. Anyhoo, hopefully I might get a little card making time in tomorrow -it's been a difficult week and I feel the need for a little crafting to lift my spirits! Jo x
