It's time for Dawn Woleslagle's 7th Color Cue! {Can you believe we're up to number SEVEN, already!?!} Number six just wrapped up, and I'm telling you, everyone who played, DAZZLED with their wonderful creations! {If you haven't checked out WHO was on CUE... don't delay... IT MIGHT BE YOU!} So hoist your sails, ur, I mean colors, and stamps galore, sit back, be inspired let's make some MORE!
I had SUCH a stampingly great time using stamps from The Guiding Light set...! Of course, paper piecing and scene building were integral to my inspiration. I was DREAMING of a way to put a sail on this lil' boat, although that's not included with the image - please forgive me, I had to make one...! But even if you don't want to get down with the detail scissors, just a simple triangle set up from paper scraps would make a vibrant, nautical crown on this darling boat image. I've been in love with hot air balloons this summer, so I wanted to make a sail, similarly, and with MORE stamps from this great set. {I'm going to get a little fussy with some details, so bypass the rest of this paragraph if you're not interested!} Although this is a fairly simple scene, I was itching to dig a little deeper into materials. In trying to stay true to the color palette, suggested by Dawn, I didn't want to use too much craft color in my main image ~ that's when I got the idea to use some Tim Holtz CRACKLE PAINT {Yeah!!!!!! Double bonus points for using something DEEP in my stash!!!!} ... I swiped some paint in long strips onto some craft card stock and then waited for it to dry and CRACKLE!!!! THEN, I stamped the boat image on top of the painted swatch, multiple times along the direction of the crackle, so that when I paper pieced the boat back together, the grain would look accurate... {!} CHECK! {I liked it!} THEN, I stamped and embossed the sand dollar image on Riding Hood Red card stock... BUT since, I was going to adhere it on top of what is supposed to be a sheer-looking sail image I didn't want it to be too thick. I cut a small square around the image and then rubbed it, from the back, with the edge of my detail scissors, so I could peel the layers apart... {YEAHOOOO!} It peeled apart EXACTLY as I had hoped! CHECK! So I glued it down, right in the middle of the sail!
Here's a close-up shot so you can, hopefully, see the details...
The sentiment is from Dawn's "Magical Moments" set... I could almost HEAR cheerful sailing music as I stamped this! I thought a lot about Dawn and Kerrianne and how they live in an area that may look similar to this... ACTUALLY, I've seen a few gals who are from North Carolina - and um, yeah! This may be the view from YOUR backyard, you lucky ducks! Either way, stamping with these beauties means I can make this scene ~ ANYWHERE! It's just funny to think were a stamper's mind goes while she's-a-craftin'!
So, that's my overly-CHATTY share for the latest Color Cue from Stamp Away With Me and WPLUS9designstudio... Will YOU join us? We'd LOVE it! And if you won't take my word for it, check out what the other fab designers have created with this summery-fun palette!

Hi - Thanks for your lovely comments about my PDCC card, I loved using that colour combination as they're some of my favourates.
This one I would of struggled with, not good at using several bright primary colours together, but your boat card is gorgeous.....really loved your horse card too by the way...
