Just Us Girls and a FOND farewell....

I have been EXTREMELY blessed to be a member of Just Us Girls for a LONG time!

In case you've never enjoyed the fruits of their revolving challenges, YOU have been

missing out!  Me?  I've been an inspired participant, a THRILLED chic of the week, a

SUPER delighted guest designer, and for a good three years now, an ECSTATIC 

design team member...  {WHERE, oh where, has the time gone!?!} 

It's been a GREAT ride!  

                     

 I am FILLED with gratitude!  - AND a whole lot of crafty memories...  

THIS is my last post as a JUG-ster, and my last week as a hostess for all 

the fun and SUPER sonic inspiration...  A super fallish photo collage is 

my parting gift...  I hope you'll consider playing along!

Also, my dear team mate, Tangii, has also decided to step down from
Just Us Girls...  My special salute to you, Tangii, and your brilliant color
skills and all around crafty TALENT!  YOU will be greatly missed!

On to some crafty BUSINESS.....

You might know that I am a lover of the "scene" card....  So this happened

quite naturally.  This background was created with STAMP pads, and a 

smattering of water color with stamp ink!  {It was INKALICIOUS, babies!}

 

But then I pretty much covered the whole thing up with delicious stampy

elements and precious pretty bits and baubles...  But HEY!  That's how

the stamp bounces...   IT'S THE JOURNEY!  {Says the girl with VERY 

inky fingers!} Worth all the effort, as far as I'm concerned!

{Autumn is my FAVORITE season for stamping!}

But speaking of stamping!  Ack!  Do you KNOW these ladies...  the fabby force of

JUST US GIRLS!  They took this photo montage ALL THE WAY to AMAZING!

It's a cornucopia-o-inspiration!

Thank YOU, for the YEARS of gushing and swooning that you
indulged me in...  {I LOVE those GIRLS!} I am humbled by
ALL that I see, learn from and am inspired by, in the crafty blog
world.  You have NO idea how much healing, hand holding and
friendship making has occurred here...  EVEN WHEN I HAVEN'T
been 1/10th of the friend I mean to be, this place has continued
to take care of me!  I am VERY, very blessed.

ANDDDDDDDD.....  SURPRISE birthday greetings to our beloved,

Vicki!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, darlin'!  {Yes, I AM screaming!} We

are so excited to be sharing a JUGified birthday celebration with our

super talented and completely beloved friend...   I'm SO honored to

call her MY friend...   DEAR friend, indeed - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Just Us Girls #179 - and reasons to play...

It is SUCH a pleasure to be checking in with you, this week!  

Just Us Girls are BRINGIN' the elegance for this stunning 

challenge, creating with the NEGATIVE die cut shape!  

 

You'll have to take my word for it, on the elegance factor...

My take went a-ways AROUND the concept, but I wandered

across the finish line  ~ LOL~  eventually! 

But if ELEGANCE is what you crave...

OUT-DO themselves, once again!

But, as I mentioned...  I took the LONG way home...

{A special thanks to Pinterest, for enabling me...}



For SOME reason, I was compelled to do a LOT of masking.

I'm always drooling over projects on Pinterest, but in particular, 

I love seeing folks use STICKER letters to mask a decorative 

background, then paint/distress over the entire thing, REMOVE 

the stickers and expose the original background...  OH, it's 

just DELICIOUS!  Anywhoo, I was motivated to create a look

like that...  Not sure if you'll be convinced, but I  still managed to

 have FUN, whilst bustin' out some AMAZING Tim Holtz stamps

 & FABULOUS, ancient designer paper and sticker letters...   

~ I ADORE the images that Tim chooses to turn into stamps! ~

I prepared the paper by gluing it to a scrap of black mat board,

then coating it with a thin layer of clear adhesive, let dry. 

Once the glue was dry, I used distress ink and then acrylic paint
dry-brushed across the masked letters and certain stamped images.
When that step was dry, I stamped the car image with Versafine,
detail ink in black.  Once that was dry, I CAREFULLY removed
the sticker letters, and then lightly sponged the white with
Antique Linen Ink from the T!m man...  {!}

When that was done...   I REMEMBERED the "negative" die cut
premise{!}, and OUT came THOSE tools...  LOL

But it STILL worked! 

So, why NOT wander a little.  You NEVER know where the road might lead!
