1) Horses can be extremely gentle, thoughtful and even gracious.
2) Deep, intelligent, soft eyes = all of the above...
3) It's possible to have a horse that will NEVER kick or bite - EVER!
4) A horse can truly talk, and has their own unique voice.
5) Being "spooked" by the little things... isn't necessary if you're truly a class act.
6) The beach is a place were secret "high gears" can be used... FAST GEARS!
7) It's not a scary to ride a horse with "high gears" if his name is Pee Wee.
8) Not only dogs know how to fetch! {Pee Wee once fetched a cell phone for a radio personality and won his former owner a CRUISE!}
9) It's truly possible to have a "best friend" in a horse.
10) A horse, like Pee Wee doesn't come along very often. If you find one, ENJOY him all that you can.
And one last thing...
When and if your horse becomes ill, in his later years... Having the courage and respect to let him go, even when he seems to be doing "okay" for the moment... Is the right thing to do.
Even if it breaks your heart.
I write this sad post today in memory of the greatest horse I've ever known, Mr. Pee Wee. I apologize for just putting it right out there, but I've shared this wonderful friend, so much, with my blogging friends, I just felt the need to share this loss.
I sure hope you understand. God bless all of you and your animal friends. I TRULY appreciate that you stopped by...

Oh my dear horsey girl :( You and your family are so brave to give Pee Wee an honorable goodbye. Having had the chance to sit atop this trusted soul was a gift I won't forget. He was a special guy and every attribute you listed above is so true. Special hugs to you for knowing him and caring enough to say goodbye when it was time. Call me...xo,D
Oh my darling girl, I'm so sorry to read about the loss of sweet Mr Pee Wee. A very hard decision to make but surely the right one. Love to you, Jo x
I am so sorry for your loss, Elise! My thoughts are with you and your family! Sending you big big hugs, Vanessa x
Oh I am so sad you had to part with such a beautiful guy. Hope your next horse (you know you'll get another!) is just as sweet or even sweeter :)
Hugs my friend
Very sorry and sad to hear about Pee Wee... but you are right... horses like that don't come along but perhaps once in a lifetime... I am glad he found you in his later years. Only a horsewoman like you can appreciate all he had to give and let him go when I know he told you it was time.
In memory of Pee Wee I quote Erma Bombeck for this is what I think he would say...
"When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me."
oh my friend... what a lovely tribute to a lovely, lovely guy... Mr. Pee Wee!! thank you for sharing him with us!! big hugs, friend, big hugs!
Oh Elise, so so sorry to hear that you've lost Mr. Pee Wee. I know you loved him very much. Animals are treasures in our hearts, filling them up and even when they are gone, they leave us with a library of precious memories. Thank you for sharing, sending you (((HUGS))).
Your written tribute to your beloved PeeWee is so courageous and so heart-breaking at the same time. I cannot imagine the loss you're feeling but I'm sending you big hugs right now. I'm so so sorry for your loss, and at the same time I'm so happy that you had the opportunity to know, love, and become friends with such a gorgeous, caring and majestic animal! Pee Wee was indeed fortunate to have landed in your hands for the best years of his life! I'm so sorry for your loss :(
Oh sweetie pie... My heart goes out to you. What a sad day for you.
I have faith that Pee Wee is running and kicking along a beautiful beach with the Big Man, and you will once again have the chance to ride him again - in another time, girl, another time.
Peace be with you.
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
when their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
is a place where beloved creatures find rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
‘til The Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed.
Their bodies have healed with strength imbued.
They trot through the grass without even a care,
‘til one day they whinny and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes sharp and alert.
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the herd.
For just at that second, there’s no room for remorse.
As they see each other…one person…one horse.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past.
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart
has turned to joy once more in each heart.
They nuzzle with a love that will last forever.
And then, side-by-side, they cross over…together.

My daugter, Beth, forwarded your blog to me. Having had horses for most of my life, I totally understand the deep bond you had with Pee Wee. I have faced the same heart-rending decision you had to make. It is never an easy one to make, but it is always the right one. My most heartfelt condolences to you. Diane
