I had a screamin' good time tonight ~ making stuff! Spent most of the day "cleansing the palette, " or cleaning "Scrapland," my haven of crafting and art...and sanity! Oh, goodness, it was in a pretty sorry state! But, there was light... at the end of my journey and .... A CARD!
Roar! Yep, that's how I feel: hear me! Let me hear YOU! And while we're at it, look at these!
Is YOUR mouth watering? I just think these are JUICY! And since I've been a bit out of the loop, I was surprised and delighted that Lovely LeAnne from the Color Throwdown is leading this week's challenge! {I'm a huge fan!}
When I first set eyes on these colors, having been in "Autumn" mode for so long, I was a bit concerned with how I'd wrangle them... I just find it so amazing how we are inspired and I hope you'll share the humor when you see what kicked it into gear for me:
Isn't this lovely! Lavender fields from the Mount Shasta area of way Northern California. And the painting is by a dear family friend, and super talented water color artist, Virgil Harton. Virgil is most well known for his architectural water color renderings, but I had the privilege of visiting his studio a few months ago, and I must share that his landscape paintings are MAGNIFICENT! I wish he had a website I could direct you to, but he's pretty low-tech and private. However, since he shared this print with me that was made into cards for a local lavender company, I'm able to share a slice of his fabulous talent! So many of these colors were similar to LeAnne's and simply by knowing that, I came up with this!
My husband got all excited, thinking I was going to post something that was inspired by Virgil, but I'm not exactly sure he'd get the connection! {Hee Hee} Great thing though, I know YOU will!
Since I was having fun and getting all excited with "challenge," I decided to use this sketch from the lovely gals from Card Patterns.....
I wish you could hear me purrring! FANTASTIC inspiration for a gal who's been kept away from all of this spectacular card crafty fun! I had a super time adapting these colors to this sketch and a ton of fun with these darling stamps by MyCuteStamps, more stamping on glossy (coated) card stock... some resist and, of course, water color work and viola! Scrapland is BACK IN BUSINESS! Yeeee HAW!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you are "being challenged!" Yipeeeeeee!

Brilliant card my fabulous friend! I have a real thing for this set and may have to bite the bullet and pay the P&P to ship it to the UK. I knew that this colour combo had your name on it and I've been drooling over that cute sketch too!
I am laid up with a horrible throat infection today so am now going to crawl back to bed...
thanks for making a sick girl smile with yet another wonderful, wonderful card! Jo x

Elise, this is fantastic! I love the rich colors, love the way you've colored it, love the city skyline, love the black glitter....can you tell I really, really, really like it??!?!?!! Who knew cleaning up a creative space can lead to such juciness?!! :>:>
Oooo.....almost forgot! Yup, I get it! And that watercolor print card is devine. I used to go to a cabin at Lake Shasta every summer with another family when I was little. Mom found me on the porch next to a coiled rattle snake when I was about two there. But, no worries, I have lots of good memories out on the lake. And those lavender fields remind me that I need to get some more for Mom....triple wrapped because it makes me Sneeze!!!!!
LOVING that cityscape in the background! Awesome job.
BTW, I've posted a new color challenge. I hope you can play along!
